Interactive benefits surgery session

MS-UK Helpline (Laura, Ryan and Shaun)

MS-UK’s helpline team will be running a FREE interactive ‘benefits surgery’

Wednesday 24 April 2024 at 4pm

The session is perfect for anyone who has burning questions around benefits available to people with MS. They’ll cover topics such as

  • What benefits you’re entitled to
  • How you can access a Blue Badge
  • Common questions around claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Adult Disability Payment (ADP)
  • Common questions around Attendance Allowance (AA) and if you can claim
  • And how you can know what’s happening with your existing benefits claim and the impending benefit reforms

During the session we will present an overview of the main disability related welfare benefits. These are:

England, Wales and Northern Ireland:

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Carers Allowance (CA)

Scotland:

  • Adult Disability Payment (ADP)
  • Pension Age Disability Payment
  • Carers Allowance/Carers Support Payment

To find out what benefits are available for people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), please visit our benefits page.

Have you got questions about benefits?

We will also be able to answer your questions and give information on earnings replacement benefits for those out of work or unable to work through ill health or disability.

We can cover some of the other associated benefits that people with a disability may be entitled to such as the Motability scheme, Access to Work, the Blue Badge scheme, the Disabled Persons Rail Card and discounts and free entry for carers and supporters.

If you have any questions and you would like us to answer them during the session, please feel free to submit them by emailing register@ms-uk.org. We will be accepting your questions and submissions up to 24 hours before the session.

If you have any queries to raise during the session our helpline team will do our best to answer them. Although we are not welfare rights advisors our team have training in benefits and as a member organisation of Disability Rights UK, we will have the ‘Disability Rights Handbook’ ready to use.

If we can’t answer your query immediately, we have access to Ken Butler who is a welfare rights expert and high level ‘advisor’s advisor’. We can submit your issues to him and get back to you directly if needed.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you all during the session.
