The ‘Navigating MS’ monthly bitesize series takes place on the last Wednesday of every month and focuses on a different important MS-related topic.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, re-engaging with your MS, or a family member, friend, or carer looking for information and support, this series of bitesize information sessions offers practical guidance, reliable information, and strategies to help you live well with MS.
Each month explores a different topic, supporting you to build confidence, increase your knowledge and understanding, with the aim of helping you better manage everyday life with MS.
This series of bitesize sessions has been developed by MS-UK’s Helpline team. The sessions draw on valuable insight from our experience of supporting the MS community and the lived experiences of people affected by MS, ensuring the content is relevant, practical, and firmly grounded in real-life experience.
Talking to others about MS – Support regarding talking to others about your MS. Making useful suggestions for tried and tested analogies and signposting to useful conversation resources.
The MS Health Team – The ‘who’s who’ of health professionals involved in MS care, how they can help, and tips to make the most of your appointments
MS Symptoms – Learn about the differences (and similarities) between each Person with MS and the symptoms experienced. Covering symptom diaries, medication and self-management techniques
MS Treatments – Medications to help with your MS including disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), symptomatic treatments, and complementary therapies
MS and work – MS and the world of work. The law, (The Equality Act), reasonable adjustments, disability confident employers, job searching and more
Diet and Supplements – A look at the various MS specific diets that people may choose to follow
MS Brain Health – We will talk about ‘neurological reserve’ and looking after overall health of your brain outcomes over a lifetime
Exercise and Physical Activity – introducing the importance of exercise and activity on overall health, general fitness, mobility and wellbeing for people living with MS
Benefits and Financial Wellbeing – A brief overview of welfare rights information (earnings replacement benefits and disability benefits) and additional resources including Blue Badges, ‘Access to Work’ and the Motability scheme
These bitesize sessions will be delivered by the helpline and information team, who will provide clear, accurate, and up-to-date information throughout the series. Each session will foster an open, supportive, and informative environment, giving participants the opportunity to learn, share experiences, ask questions and feel supported as they navigate life with MS.
