As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, we are pleased to invite you to a special session focused on practical, compassionate approaches to supporting emotional wellbeing in everyday life for you and those around you.

We begin with Shaun Barton from the MS-UK Helpline Team, who will be speaking about the important connection between diet, including the role of gut health, physical activity, and mental health. Shaun will explore how everyday lifestyle choices can influence mood, energy levels, resilience, and overall wellbeing, and how small, realistic changes can make a meaningful difference over time.

We will then be joined by Donna Williamson, Counsellor and Psychotherapist, who will guide us through a thoughtful and supportive discussion on key aspects of mental and emotional wellbeing, including

  • Taking action to allow “doing nothing” in your day and week
  • Taking action in your health care and wellbeing support
  • Recognising and responding when it all gets too much
  • Understanding anxiety and depression
  • Suicidal thoughts and the protective factors that can help reduce these thoughts
  • Exploring resources available at MS-UK and through wider support services

This session aims to offer both practical strategies and emotional insight, helping you to better understand your wellbeing and feel more supported in navigating life’s challenges with MS.

We hope you will find this session informative, grounding, and supportive, whether you are attending for yourself or to support someone else.

Please visit MS-UK’s Choices booklets to find out more on the topics being discussed in this session – diet, exercise and mental health.
