This evening we should have been getting ready for a night to remember at MS-UK’s annual Summer Ball.
It should have been a busy week for the fundraising team assembling prizes donated by many generous donors and businesses for our raffle and auction and getting all the finishing touches ready for a very special evening.
Each year we welcome around 150 lovely supporters for an evening of fine dining, fun and great entertainment in glamorous style at the luxurious Le Talbooth in Dedham, Essex near MS-UK’s home town of Colchester.
Every year, this black-tie event raises thousands of pounds for MS-UK so we can continue our work supporting people affected by multiple sclerosis.
Last June, we raised over £16,000 at our Summer Ball which is enough to fund our national helpline for over six weeks, providing vital information and emotional support to empower anyone that needs it.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and like many other events, the ball has been cancelled this year. This is a huge shame for both our guests who are missing a great night out and our fundraising.
If you would like to make a donation to our urgent appeal to help us at this difficult time, we would be most grateful. You can donate at www.justgiving.com/campaign/MS-UKAppeal.
One day we shall go to the ball and we are already looking forward to making the MS-UK Ball the biggest and best ever in 2021.
The date planned for 2021 is Friday 17 September 2021. If you would like to find out more information about the event please contact me on 01206 226500 or email Jill@ms-uk.org
Thank you for your continued support.
Stay safe and well,
MS-UK Fundraising Manager
On Friday 21 June we held our annual MS-UK Summer Ball with the theme of a Midsummer Night. Our games, entertainment from The Lisa Graham Duo, alongside our sensational auction and raffle produced donations that we couldn’t be more grateful for, truly signifying how much a success the night was.
We managed to raise a staggering £17,010! This will go so far in helping us support even more people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), thank you so much to everyone who attended!
Over 140 of you came along, fromour trustees, clients, marathon runners, volunteers, networking groups to our community champions. We kick-started the night with an entertaining quiz, the heads and tails game that was themed appropriately with summer themed questions, of course.
Following some entertainment, the auction was on its way. With an outstanding ten prizes on offer generously donated by various companies and people, there was a lot to bid for. From an Anthony Joshua signed glove, a spa break for two at Champneys, Six Nations 2020 tickets to a private BBQ for 20 guests, there was huge variety! Similarly, our raffle prizes had the wow-factor to match. From the three course dinner for two, a Bose portable speaker, to the family portrait photo shoot, there was a lot to play for.
Certainly the prizes were astounding but the reason everyone attended was for a much more heart-warming reason. It was to help us raise thousands of pounds so we can be here now and in the future. With the support of so many amazing people at events like this, we are able to offer our vital services to more people living with MS.
Gregg Rice, an attendee of our Summer Ball said ‘I like to support MS-UK as my partner is affected by MS. I’ve run two marathons as I’ve felt it’s important to support what MS-UK do. Again, this was another fantastic night raising money for such a worthwhile charity, and I’ve felt truly humbled by the atmosphere there’.
We would like to warmly thank all those that donated prizes for our raffle and auction and to all those that attended to bid for them. You made it a very magical evening.
See you next year!

We’re feeling summery at the MS-UK offices as we prepare for our 6th annual Summer Ball on Friday 29 June...that's right, it's tomorrow!
Taking place in Constable Country at the beautiful setting of Le Talbooth, Dedham, over 100 guests are joining the celebrations in our 25th silver anniversary year.
Following pre-dinner drinks on the stunning lawns adjacent to the River Stour, guests will enjoy a three course dinner whilst being serenaded by The Harmonettes, a 1940’s style harmony duo.
A highlight of the evening is the grand auction, hosted by Will Quince MP, when diners have an opportunity to bid against one another for a variety of exceptional treats including; concert tickets, sporting, fine dining, musical and theatre experiences. Prior to dancing the night away, we also have a fantastic raffle. This is only possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of many donors and supporters.
MS-UK are dedicated to empowering people affected by multiple sclerosis to live life to the full, so every penny raised at our Summer Ball will allow us to continue our vital work. We are truly grateful to all of our supporters and hope that those attending have a fantastic evening.
It’s almost time to ‘get the glad rags on’ and in true ‘Strictly style’ …………’Keeeeeeeeeeep dancing!’
