It's your last chance to order a collection box before Christmas!

Posted on: December 05 2017

img_1712.jpgWant to support MS-UK this Christmas? Grab a festive collection box today! Just email Jenny or call 01206 226500! Here are 5 festive fundraising ideas to help you fill it up...

  1. Host a Christmas jumble sale at your local village hall! Do you like to de-clutter in the approach to a new year? Ask your local village hall for permission to host a jumble sale, gather together some friends and family and take part in some festive flogging to raise money for MS-UK
  2. Are you gifted in the gift-wrapping department? Offer up your gift-wrapping services this Christmas and wrap gifts in exchange for a donation. You could even ask your local department store to let you set up a giftwrapping stall, if you provide paper and gift tags. Some happy shoppers will be elated to avoid their last-minute Christmas eve elf imitations!
  3. Water or Wine? Wrap up lots of empty wine bottles filled with water and a few still full of wine in Christmas wrapping paper. Take them to your work Christmas party and charge punters £1 per pinot-shaped parcel. This liquor lottery should raise a few pounds for MS-UK whilst making some party-goers very happy!
  4. Are you part of a musical ensemble or choir? Raise vital funds for MS-UK this Christmas by staging a small carol concert or musical performance at your local Church, pub or shopping precinct. We're even hosting our own concert this year in Essex! You can order tickets online today for the MS-UK carol concert!
  5. Host a bauble-fuelled bake sale. Bake some Christmas cakes and cookies with a group of friends and host a bake sale from your own home. Invite friends and family for some tea and cake and true to festive spirit you'll be helping others in your efforts. You may even have some left to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve :)

To receive your own fundraising pack and collection box in time for the Christmas period email Jenny or call 01206 226500!

12 days of Christmas fundraising!

Posted on: November 10 2017

12-days-image.jpgThe MS-UK fundraising team are being busy little Christmas elves organising all the fun events for the festive season! Here are our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ fun ideas to support MS-UK in the run up to Christmas…

  1. Guess the candy canes in a jar. Charge £1 per go. You could use any seasonal treat or to make it harder by using dried fruit!
  2. Festive hat day! Why not get your colleagues involved and get them to have a wear a festive hat day at your place of work for a contribution to MS-UK? Other Christmas clothing could be an alternative.
  3. Name the Christmas toy. £1 a go. Choose a name from a list (we can provide one). When all the names have been chosen put the names in a (Santa) hat and film the person picking out the winning name!
  4. Give a gift online. Why not donate to MS-UK instead of sending Christmas cards this year?
  5. Christmas swear jars. Ban a particular Christmas word and if a colleague/family member is heard saying it they have to put a ‘fine’ into the jar.
  6. Christmas craft party. Charge an entry fee, and lead them to create a design. Supply some nibbles and a drink, and you’ll have a fab night.
  7. Christmas beard competition. Challenge your male friends to grow a Santa beards in return for donations.
  8. Card creations. Make your own festive Christmas cards this year and sell them to your friends in aid of MS-UK.
  9. Host a Christmas dinner party! Rather than having your annual Christmas get together with your friends at a bar or restaurant, get your pals to follow a ‘pay as you feel’ policy and cook them a festive feast at home! Donate the proceeds (if there are any, depending on your culinary abilities) to MS-UK!
  10. Get quizzing! Approach your local pub and see if they would be interested in hosting a Christmas quiz night for you. Charge per participant or by team to enter. You could even see if they will donate a prize to the winning team like a case of wine.
  11. Bake. Everybody likes cake, and now is the perfect excuse to have a slice. Why not take some festive cakes into your place of work, hold a stall at your childrens school Christmas bazaar or take along to a social group you attend. Get friends and family to join in too, the more the merrier!
  12. Sing, sing, sing! Love to sing? Why not create your own festive jukebox? Get friends and family to donate for you to sing their favourite Christmas song. You could even charge for extras such as wearing fancy dress or doing a duet. Film yourself doing them and share on social media with a link to your online fundraising page!

Order a fundraising pack today and you'll get a free Christmas collection box! Email Jenny or call 01206 226500. Remember... Every penny you raise helps MS-UK support even more people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). We wouldn't be here without you - thank you!

Wintery winners and a big thank you!

Happy New Year from the fundraising team at MS-UK! And what a brilliant subject to write our first blog post of 2017 on, our Winter Draw. This year with your help the Winter Draw raised £3,696! Your Winter Draw entries looked a little like snow in our ticket container, and as we drew out the names of the winners there was certainly a similar feeling to the excitement of a white Christmas! To be able to give some great prizes back to our festive fundraisers who took part in the draw was an amazing feeling! So, without further ado, I’d like to announce some of our lucky winners!

  • Our first prize of £1,000 went to Marion Heaton
  • Our second prize of an iPad Air 2 went to Gareth Hadland
  • And three of our five £50 M&S vouchers went to Graham Milner, Susan Gildner and Terri Williamson

Combined with everything you did for our Festive Frolic campaign you all raised over £6,000 for MS-UK!

We would like to say thank you to everyone that took part. Whether you bought a Winter Draw ticket, held a Festive Frolic for your friends and family or organised a bag packing event at your local supermarket, you helped raise vital funds to keep our services running! If you want to find out more or have an amazing idea for a fundraiser in 2017, please get in touch with me by phone on 01206 226 500 or by email! We are very much looking forward to 2017! 2016 bag pack done!!!

Posted on: December 13 2016

photo-1-9.jpgOver the weekend of Saturday 10 – 11 December a group of willing volunteers all made their way to the local Marks and Spencer store to help the customers pack their shopping bags!

We all had a fantastic time and this was our way of taking part in the MS-UK Festive Frolic campaign. Holding a bag pack is so easy to do and I would recommend it to anyone! To find out more do get in touch with Nick today.

We arrived early and were all ready to start packing. Everyone choose their till and made each customer feel welcome.

Unfortunately the till I had chosen kept breaking which meant I was packing the same person’s bag for 15 minutes, but least we got to have a fun conversation. I can honestly say that by the end of the day my bag packing skills had vastly improved.

All the staff at M&S were so welcoming and made our day more enjoyable. Over the whole weekend the very generous customers donated a whooping £1,012.78. This is awesome and we cannot thank the amazing shoppers enough for their generosity!

Nick, Jeanette, Sarah and Hannah helping out at the bag pack!

This weekend couldn’t have happened without the brilliant volunteers we had over both of the days. A massive thank you must go out to M&S who helped organise the weekend with us. We are already looking forward to next years bag packing, it is a great day out and you get to meet loads of interesting people.

From the much improved bag packing king, we look forward to seeing you all at a bag pack again soon!!!

Black Friday is upon us!

Posted on: November 25 2016

Black Friday is upon us and I am sure you will make some mega savings! Maybe you will find a toaster for half price in one of your favourite high street shops, or perhaps you’ll find your favourite game on offer for a fraction of the price!

social-posts-v3_recovering-v11.jpg

But what to do with all the savings?!

Of course we’re going to say, why not donate your #GivingTuesday mega savings to MS-UK!

You can also tweet us your pictures of you ‘doing good stuff’ at @MSUK6 (although keep these for 29 November as we want the hashtag trending on the day!)

No matter what it is, we want you to do a good thing by supporting MS-UK for #GivingTuesday!

Good luck, and hope you bag a bargain!

Bake up a storm!

cake-1.jpgAre you a dab hand in the kitchen?

If so, you could be on to a #GivingTuesday winner! Why not make some gingerbread men or your signature dish for the people in your office to enjoy and you will have done your ‘good stuff’ for the day! You could ask for donations to MS-UK in return!

This could be a great way to show off your cooking skills and bring cheer to the office. Get in contact with me as I would love to hear what you are baking for your colleagues!

Don’t forget to tweet us a picture of your baking prowess to @MSUK6 using the hashtag #GivingTuesday on the day!

Good luck!

Countdown to #GvingTuesday!

Posted on: November 21 2016

Hi everyone,
Tuesday 29 November is known as #GivingTuesday and this year we are asking people to do good stuff for it!

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fuelled by the power of social media and collaboration which kicks off the charitable season straight after Black Friday and Cyber Monday!

Putting the fizz into a Festive Frolic!

Posted on: November 18 2016

blog-image-for-18-11-16.jpgHi everyone,

With so many creative ideas coming from our supporters it was about time I got involved with a Festive Frolic of my own!

So, when one of my best friends Lucy offered to hand-make some Christmas cards and sell them on behalf of MS-UK it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get some friends together.

The evening started early at 7 pm and friends and neighbours dropped by to buy cards and Winter Draw tickets and have a glass of fizz. By the end of the night all of the cards were sold and a few of us stayed on for a good old natter and to finish up the Prosecco.

It was a great excuse to get friends together, meet new people and raise money for MS-UK at the same time!

So with that in mind, it’s not too late to organise a Festive Frolic of your own! If you don’t fancy hosting your own party you could make a donation and wear a festive jumper or woolly hat to work?

Or you could have a family and friends minced pie bake off! All donations from pie sales to MS-UK!
So my advice to you is don your Santa hats, get your reindeer jumpers on and bake some mince pies and hold a festive get together all in aid of a great cause!

To join in with the fun, just visit www.ms-uk.org/festivefrolic today!

Best wishes,
